Pamela is the working artist, the hands and sleepless mind behind Prettydreamer. She studied sculpture and design at the Cooper Union in NYC, where she received my Bachelor of Fine Arts. She hasn't stop chasing an idea yet. Working with materials that come from our natural world, she loves the truthfulness of these materials and how they keep us connected to the place, time and the larger world.
Each and every item is designed and produced start to finish by her hands only. She has lived and worked in the small mountain towns of southwestern NH for over fourteen years supporting her daughter and herself with her work.
She still love toys; trees and the living things that grow wild; histories, origins, storybooks, picture books and fairy tales of all kind; rocks, mountains, maps and terrain; typography, and ideas turned upside-down; folk hands, hand-stitching, patterns, textures, color and honest traditions that run deep; and all the other friendly playful thingsthat function or are simply made to bring joy.
Working with a number of natural materials, but primarily in wood, Prettydreamer uses traditional woodworking techniques and a background in the the disciplines of fine arts, sculpture and design to produce work that has authenticity of material and a love of story and half remembered places.
The majority of woods used for products are native, locally-milled and sustainably-harvested hardwoods or otherwise reclaimed. All materials have been carefully chosen and are non-toxic. All children's items have likewise been designed and produced with developmental appropriateness, as well as being rated AP non-toxic safe for children.
Prettydreamer's work has been sold and shipped widely nationwide, as well as, internationally to over 27 countries. In Oct 2011, Prettydreamer was thrilled to become an Etsy Featured Artist. Her work has also been featured by a number of online and print publications including: Country Living Magazine, Apartment Therapy's Re-Nest and Ohdeedoh, Coolmompicks, Craftzine, Houzz, New Parent, and Pregnancy and Newborn Magazine .
